Authentic Handmade Wooden Chick

A handmade wooden chick is a festive decorative element on the Easter table. Easter constitutes the oldest and most widely celebrated festivity in the Christian liturgical year. Still, it has also transformed into a secularised family holiday where folk beliefs and Christian traditions coexist. It is a celebration that embraces a diversity of cultural traditions and symbols from all corners of the world. Regardless of how local customs and practices vary, Easter remains a time for unity, joy, and hope that extends across the entire globe.

An important figure in many Easter traditions is the chick, often associated with rebirth and renewal. This lively and colourful creature serves as a reminder of approaching springtime.

About the Pecking Chick

The domesticated chicken descends from red junglefowl, which is the ancestor of all domestic chicken breeds. Chickens are active animals with an intense curiosity that drives them to explore their surroundings. Scratching, pecking, and dust bathing are ingrained in their nature. Hens are intelligent and exhibit individual and characteristic behaviours. These feathered creatures show impressive care towards their chicks. The hen incubates her eggs for three weeks, after which the eggs hatch and transform into petite, lively chicks.

The pecking chick is a food enthusiast: it pecks at grass, insects, grains, and bits of gravel. The gravel is necessary as it cannot chew very well, but the stomach muscles grind the food with the help of the gravel.
