The North American Eastern bluebird is a shy thrush not often seen at the bird feeder. This beautiful bird lives almost exclusively on insects and wild berries but may on occasion catch larger prey such as salamanders and tree frogs. Its numbers have decreased heavily due to deforestation. However, thanks to birdhouses especially set up for them, their numbers are slowly increasing.
