About Camels
There are two types of camels; the camel and the dromedary. The only difference between them is the number of humps on their backs. The dromedary has one hump, and the camel has two. The humps are for storing fat for energy reserves. They can survive harsh climates, are herbivores and can drink up to 100l of water at once. They can survive up to 6 months without water. This makes them the perfect animal for transporting goods in difficult conditions.
The fur is dark brown, beige or a sandy grey. The dromedary was imported to Australia in the 18th century, where they now thrive.
